Tuesday Evening Wheelwork For Beginners and Improvers with Ian Gwynne September 2019

£150.00

This 8 week course starts on Tuesday 3rd September 2019, and will take place every Tuesday evening from 7.00pm – 9.30pm on the following dates.

  • 3rd September
  • 10th September
  • 17th September
  • 24th September
  • 1st October
  • 8th October
  • 14th October
  • 22nd October

This course takes place over eight weeks.  Each class runs for 2 1/2 hours.  During the course you will learn how to,  “wedge”/prepare the clay for throwing and throw pots on the potter’s wheel.  On the wheel you will learn centering, and then methods to make vessels.  You will also learn “turning”, the process of tidying up the base of your pots.   You will learn about surface decoration using coloured slips and various glazing techniques.

Dress for out door play, as clay can be messy, and do trim long nails, as they will impact on your artistic flare with clay!

Please bring a clean wipeable apron and an old hand towel with you to each session.

Description

We are thrilled that talented thrower, Ian Gwynne, returns to Sundragon in September to share his skills on the potter’s wheel.  Ian’s throwing is all about refinement of form, and experimental surface decoration.
