Saturday Morning Pottery with Austin Gannon May 2021

This comprehensive 5 week course is suitable for beginners and improvers, who wish to explore working with clay.
These classes will give students a chance to work with clay in our bespoke basement studio at Moseley School of Art.
Austin’s experience and gentle approach to teaching will support you through the process of getting to know clay.  Students can enjoy the learning process and develop at their own pace.
In five weeks you will learn some techniques of hand building, and some throwing of basic cylinder forms and bowls.
Pots that students wish to keep, are paid for by weight.  This cost includes two firings and also covers the cost of glaze materials.
The course runs on the following dates :-
  • 22nd May
  • 29th May
  • 5th June
  • 12th June
  • 19th June

Pottery is a messy business.  Please remember to bring a clean wipeable apron, and a small hand towel with you to each session.  Also, please remember to trim your nails, as long nails can really inhibit your learning with clay.

The last 20 minutes of each session are dedicated to cleaning up.

We take everyone’s health and safety very seriously!

Anyone in self-isolation or with COVID-19 symptoms must NOT visit the studio. Under any circumstances.

We may take your temperature, on arrival

The heated studio has large windows, that will be open, and there will be an extractor fan on.

Masks must be worn in the studio at all times.

Hand Sanitizer must be used before you enter the studio, and when you leave.

We have restricted student numbers to 5 people, plus the tutor, in order that social distancing can be maintained.

please note:-

Following the scientific advice on Covid-19, it may transpire that we have to cancel this run of courses.

Unfortunately, we will have to charge a £5 non-refundable deposit, to cover our costs, should the classes need to be cancelled
