This 6 week course starts on Monday 24th February 2020, and will take place every Monday afternoon from 3.00pm – 5.30pm on the following dates.
This course takes place over six weeks. Each class runs for 2 1/2 hours. During the course you will learn how to, “wedge”/prepare the clay for throwing and throw pots on the potter’s wheel. On the wheel you will learn centering, and then methods to make vessels. You will also learn “turning”, the process of tidying up the base of your pots. You will learn about surface decoration using coloured slips and various glazing techniques.
Clay can be messy, so please dress for outdoor play.
Long nails can really inhibit your creativity with clay, so please do remember to trim them.
Bring a clean wipeable apron and an old hand towel to each class.
We are delighted that tutor Ian Gwynne, will be leading this popular afternoon slot at Sundragon this Spring. Ian’s work is all about the refinement of form, and experimental surface decoration.
