This six week course starts on Monday 13th June 2022 in our beautiful basement studio in Moseley School of Art.

The course will take place every Monday Afternoon from 1.30pm-4.00pm on the following dates.
During the course you will learn how to “wedge”/prepare the clay ready for making.
Katie will teach you various methods of hand-building, and you will also be taught the beginnings of throwing on the potters wheel.
You will learn about surface decoration using coloured slips and various glazing techniques. Throughout the course you will also learn “good studio practice”, the art of keeping your work area as clean/tidy as possible, thus, benefiting everyone.
This course is designed to be a short intensive introduction to ceramic life at Sundragon Community Pottery
Clay can be messy, so please dress for outdoor play.
Long nails can really inhibit your creativity with clay, so please do remember to trim them.
Bring a clean wipeable apron and an old hand towel to each class.
The last 20 minutes of each class is dedicated to cleaning up.

We may take your temperature, on arrival
The heated studio has large windows, that will be open, and there will be an extractor fan on.
Masks must be worn in the studio at all times.
Hand Sanitizer must be used before you enter the studio, and when you leave.
The studio is large and airy, and ordered so that social distancing can be maintained.

We are delighted that tutor Katie Hess, will be teaching at Sundragon this Summer.
Katie’s work is all about experimenting with form, surface decoration, and always trying out new ideas.
Katie is trained to teach Art, and her main practice is ceramics.
