We are delighted that Nessa has agreed to teach this summer at Sundragon Community Pottery.

Nessa Grimes, is a qualified teacher and practising ceramic artist, with her own studio in The Old Print Works.

This day course runs on Wednesday 24th July 2024 in our beautiful basement Studio 2, in Moseley School of Art, at Moseley Community Hub, 498, Moseley Road, on the corner of Lime Grove and Moseley Road. B12 9AH.

Handbuilding for Beginners - 24th July 2024 #1

3 Day Staycation

Come and learn about handbuilding with clay, in a friendly, small group of up to 8 people.

This day course will cover many aspects methods of  handbuilding.

During the course you will learn how to “wedge”/prepare the clay ready for making.

Nessa will teach you various methods of hand-building, in cluding soft slab building, hard slab-building, pinch pot making, and coil pot making.

You will make items such as bowls and plates,

The course price includes up to three pieces, per participant, with the option to pay for more if you wish.  These will be finished and glazed for you, and will be ready to collect after about six weeks.

The course runs from 10.00 – 16.00.

Tea/Coffee/Buisuits will be provided.  Bring a packed lunch, or there are many and varied food outlets within a couple of minutes walk from the studio.


Clay can be messy, so please dress for outdoor play.

Long nails really block your creativity with clay, so please do remember to trim them.

Bring a clean wipeable apron and an old hand towel to each class.
